Chuck Baxter is an ambitious bachelor and junior executive for a large insurance company, who expresses his frustrations and hopes for career advancement. He allows his apartment to be used by his superiors for their romantic trysts in return for promises of promotion.
A kinky comedy about love, submission, and revenge. A couple has the perfect domestic relationship: he spends his days planning the perfect revenge, while she awaits her perfect punishment. Dark, twisted and touching, the couple comes to understand and embrace the “kinks” in their relationship.
Two rivals use sex as a weapon of humiliation and degradation, all the while enjoying their cruel games. Their targets are a virtuous married woman and a young girl who has fallen in love with her music tutor. In order to gain their trust, they pretend to help the secret lovers so they can use them later in their own treacherous schemes.
The setting is Ken and Jan's apartment in a Manhattan high rise, where Jan and her friend Lois are setting up for a dinner party before attending a block association meeting on neighborhood crime—a subject that has become an obsession with Lois' husband, Al. In fact, just to show how vulnerable they all are, Al, impersonating a masked burglar, breaks into the apartment via the terrace while the ladies cower in fear.
Elwood P. Dowd is an affable man who claims to have an unseen (and presumably imaginary) friend Harvey — whom Elwood describes as a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch tall pooka resembling an anthropomorphic rabbit.
